Awarded a research project by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry

Catalys Inc. has been awarded the following project by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

■ About the project

  • Title: FY2026 International Conference and Research on Decarbonisation (research and analysis of climate change measures in each country, including carbon border adjustment mechanisms)
  • Awarded by: Minister’s Secretariat, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
  • Date of award: 17 March 2026

■ Background and significance

With the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) now coming into full effect, climate policy and carbon pricing are moving quickly in every major market. For Japanese companies this bears directly on export competitiveness and on corporate strategy.

The purpose of this project is to research and analyze those global regulatory developments from several angles, and to support both the running of international conferences on decarbonisation and the policy work that follows.

■ What Catalys will do

Through this project we will research and analyze the latest developments in climate policy and decarbonisation regulation across countries, and contribute what we find to international policy discussion.

Drawing on our expertise in corporate strategy and in global research, we will help Japanese companies and Japanese industry stay competitive as international decarbonisation rules grow more complex.
